Her own private story in a large historical-social context: »Unforgettable« takes different perspectives on the biography of Fernanda Ortiz, a choreographer born in Argentina and living in Hamburg. What traces does the legacy of her father, the murdered leftist revolutionary Rodolfo Ortiz, leave in her own life?
The film was made as a result of the transformation of a scenic piece that could not be realised due to the pandemic. Created under production conditions for dance and theatre, the live dance narrative UNFORGETTABLE was reimagined and shot in four days in Hamburg under the film direction of Sven Grell and Fernanda Ortiz.
The dancer's body is at the centre of the action as an individual actor and at the same time as a mirror of time and space: the military dictatorship in Argentina, Germany as an arms supplier, 9/11, and again and again the World Cup. What traces do these events leave on the body? What images are engraved on it? What is unforgettable?
This performance is available in our online library.
Fernanda Ortiz is a freelance dancer, choreographer and dance facilitator. Her choreographic works have been presented in Denmark, Spain, Austria, Luxembourg, Argentina and Germany in very different places and contexts because she is passionate about bringing dance to people and spaces where it is not common.
To approach the complexity of global reality, she creates media heterogeneous works from an intersectional perspective. The focus is on human beings, their perception, their movements and their bodies in relation to socio-social phenomena as in THINK, UNFORGETTABLE & DANCE FOREVER, her trilogy about the traces of movement (2016/2019). Currently she is dedicated to the thematic complex of dance and digitality.
