For the most important prize in district culture, the Hamburg District Culture Prize *(Stadtteilkulturpreis)*, endowed with 10,000 euros, the prize donors have again nominated projects and programmes for the finals this year. »Beste Gäste« is one of the 10 finalists!**

Next year, Hauptsache Frei will present works and artistic positions of Hamburg's independent scene in a joint festival for the eighth time. The next edition will take place from 22 June to 02 July 2022. Apply now for HAUPTSACHE FREI #8!
The aim of the festival is to make the liveliness of the artistic positions of Hamburg's independent scene visible to a broad audience. We want to discuss aesthetic, content-related and structural developments in the scene with you! Artists and spectators from Hamburg as well as guests from outside are invited to get an idea of what the Hamburg cultural landscape is dealing with.
In order to present the broadest possible spectrum of Hamburg's independent performing arts, the "Programme of the Scene" in 2022 will not be curated by the festival team alone - all submissions are welcome. These will then be viewed by the curatorial team and an advisory board.

In der aktuellen Ausgabe startet das Festival mit den ersten Formaten zur Barrierearmut, mit Tandems zwischen Akteur*innen der Freien Szene und Menschen, die noch kaum Berührungspunkte mit der Szene haben, Kinder und Familien, die selten in den Diskurs miteinbezogen werden. Der diesjährige Schwerpunkt liegt auf Menschen mit Blindheit und Sehbehinderung. In Kooperation mit dem Verein „Blinde Passagiere“ wird es eine Workshopreihe zu Audiodeskriptionen geben, Tandems für und mit Menschen mit Blindheit und Sehbehinderung. Zudem werden zwei Produktionen mit Audiodeskriptionen und Tastführungen in der Bühne stattfinden.

A conspiratorial and scene-connecting mentoring program

While digitization in the performing arts has exploded in the last year, many media artists* have long used digital space as a stage and material for their art. Since the emergence of the Internet, aesthetics have evolved, social spaces and arrangements have been interrogated and subverted, and questions of liveness and the role of the audience or user* have been considered.
The mentoring #BeyondDigital connects Hamburg (emerging) artists with international media artists. In this first prototype of the mentoring program, four tandems work together to exchange ideas on poetics and discourses of net performance art. The mentoring begins with a practical workshop in August 2021. Afterwards, the participants are invited to develop a net-artistic sketch or prototype in the company of a mentor, which can be presented in the context of Hauptsache Frei 2022.
