Frankfurt-based electronic duo Les Trucs are back with motivational music for new-age survivalists on a new EP ("Wir zieh'n das Geld wie ein Magnet") and a concert performance for crisis management.
Following Vilém Flusser's philosophy of man from the point of view of the anti-man, a deep-sea monster called Vampyroteuthis infernalis, in "Sepia Sepia" they reflect the current social events with its demands on the individual in shimmering colors and sounds. Like octopuses, they create a fluid texture of amorphous and meandering sound, light, text and body forms. With specially developed performance backpacks and LED spotlights on their bodies, Charlotte Simon and Toben Piel test the adaptive system of color and form transformation and sing the praises of changing weather, surgery, Rüdiger Nehberg and, with "Wir fahren Klaviere" ("We drive pianos"), the marginalized guild of musical instrument carriers.
Following the screening Hauptsache Verliebt - The Daily Update of the festival with news, gossip and talk: What were the Love Moments😘 and Hot Topics🤑 of the day? Just stay seated after the show!
Sepia Sepia premieres on 26.08.21 at the Popkultur Festival Berlin and travels directly afterwards to us!
Les Trucs are two humanoids and a pile of electronic gadgetry. Half flesh, half wire. Half experiment and half pop. With their fast and energetic live shows, the Frankfurt / Germany based duo is constructing a scenery made out of noise, composition, voices and dance, always performing in the center of the room. Charlotte Simon and Toben Piel collaborate under the name of Les Trucs since 2008. Originating from nursery school, fine art studies and a proper punk/ hardcore education, they started out as a live band and carried on to examine the intersection of musical happening and theatrical production. Their work always connects to the surrounding space and situation, in form of sound concepts for urban spaces, compositions for moving choirs or a science fiction manifesto.
They appear in club and DIY settings as well as performing and fine art contexts. They collaborated with directors and choreographers such as Meg Stuart, Philippe Quesne, Contact Gonzos, Schorsch Kamerun, Florentina Holzinger e.g. and played concerts all around Europe, Russia, Israel and Japan. Together with Benjamin Bascom, they run a cassette label for experimental, electronic dance music called MMODEMM and organize parties and events in Frankfurt and abroad.
